Almost everybody recognises the joy of playing with a tape measure. Discover what the flexible but sturdy material is capable of.
In ‘Measuring Movement’ Bart Schalekamp made a machine who is capable of playing with the tape. Creating an image in which we can recognise our own behaviour. The contrast between the organised machinery and the random behaviour of the tape is fascinating. While watching, you will continually search for a rhythm, but it will never repeat itself.
Bart Schalekamp is part of ‘Zwart Frame’, an Utrecht based collective consisting of five creators in art and design. Passion for the creator’s process and materializing ideas moved us together organically and forms the foundation of our collaboration. As five members we support each other in individual processes as well as combining our expertise in collaboration projects.
