Exhibition Navigation

Maria Klaassen-Andrianova transforms the EXboot into an imaginary environment, where time flows differently and destiny can be reversed.

For this site-specific installation the artist draws on the concept of “reversible destiny” coined by Shusaku Arakawa and Madeline Gins – they firmly believed that the architectural works that they created could transform the personal well-being and longevity of those who lived within them. Maria Klaassen-Andrianova pushes this philosophy a step further and sketches a phantasmagorical world where reversing destiny is an ordinary service on the market among many others.

The artist stretches the given properties of the space and transforms the “office” into an otherworldly meditative space. Playing with one’s perception, adding subtle details and inviting the viewer to question what is the original and what is the copy.
