Formation – Class 1941, 2020

In her work, Choi Wong examines people and their connections. These interpersonal relationships are an ever recurring theme. Wong creates an installation that questions group dynamics  specially for the EXboot. The basis for the research is a class picture from the year 1941. The static, almost statuesque, pose of the women in the picture, in combination with the treatment that Wong added to it, gives an uncomfortable, spooky atmosphere.

Choi Wong was born in 1981 in Hong Kong and is currently based in Utrecht, Netherlands. She is graduated in 2008 in Bachelor Graphic Design, at University of the Arts Utrecht (HKU) in Utrecht, in the Netherlands. After graduating, she started to focus more on visual arts.
