While the world was burning, i was dancing my dance, waiting for it all to melt away.

Jeroen Schokkin (HKU Vers)

2 September 2019 - 27 September 2019

Every september EXboot exhibition revolves around HKU Vers: the most eye-catching and inspiring graduation work of the HKU University of Arts Utrecht. This year EXboot selected Jeroen Schokking. His work consists of an abundance of colourful casts, made out of candle wax and taken from the artists’ own body. All these casts – sometimes assembled into a classical, dancing or falling pose, and sometimes kept in the way they came from his body – are brought together on, and in a massive structure made out of moving boxes.

Jeroen Schokkin (1989) started his grown-up life with studying Biomedical Engineering at the TU/e. Here grew his fascination for the human body and his own physicality, but after a year long dive into this beta-material he longed for something else. After a quick look at Earth Sciences and philosophy at the Utrecht University, his fascination eventually drew him back from the thinking mind towards something that would bring him into contact with his own physicality. This summer he graduated from the HKU University of Arts Utrecht.
